The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy

The law of life is the law of belief.  Belief can be summed up briefly as a thought in your mind.

The master secret of the ages is the marvellous, miracle-working power found in my own subconscious mind.  This is, unfortunately, the last place most people would look for it, which is the reason so few ever find it.

My subconscious mind is principle.  It works according to the law of belief.  I must know what belief is, why it works, and how it works.

Remember it is not the thing believed in, but the belief in my own mind that brings about the result.

I fill my mind with the concepts of harmony, health, peace and goodwill, and wonders will happen in my life, according to the universal law of action and reaction.  My thought is action and the reaction is the automatic response of my subconscious mind to my thought.

Once I begin to control my thought processes, I can apply the powers of my subconscious to any problem or difficulty.  I will actually be consciously cooperating with the infinite power and omnipotent law that governs all things.

I do not dwell on obstacles, delays, and difficulties as this blocks my subconscious mind.  Instead, I feel the thrill of accomplishment.

The world within is the only creative power.  Everything I find in my world of expression has been created by me in the inner world of my mind, whether consciously or unconsciously.

Change the cause and I change the effect.  It is just that simple.

Change my thoughts and I change my destiny.

I lull myself to sleep every night with the idea of perfect health and my subconscious, being my faithful servant, will obey me.

My subconscious mind is the seat of my emotions.  It is the creative mind.

Once the subconscious mind accepts an idea, it begins to execute it.  It is an astonishing and subtle truth that the law of the subconscious mind works for good and bad ideas alike.  It does not make the selections and comparisons that are necessary for a reasoning process.  My subconscious mind will accept any suggestion, however false.

It is often referred to as my subjective mind.

My greatest power is my capacity to choose.  I choose happiness and abundance.

I do not let others do my thinking for me.  I choose my own thoughts and make my own decisions.

If we believe and accept as true the fact that our desire has already been accomplished and fulfilled, that it is already completed, then its realization will follow as a thing in the future.  The success of this technique relies on the confident conviction that the thought, the idea, the picture is already fact in mind.

Three fundamental truths:

1) I possess mental functions that have been distinguished by designating one, the conscious mind and the other, the subconscious mind.

2) My subconscious mind is constantly amenable to the power of suggestion.

3) My subconscious mind has complete control of the functions, conditions, and sensations of my body.

A mental picture is worth a thousand words.

It is abnormal to be sick, it is normal to be healthy.  Health is the truth of my being.

There is only one process of healing and that is faith.  There is only one healing power, namely my subconscious mind.

Once it is set in motion in a certain direction, the kinetic action of the subconscious mind continues throughout my sleep.  That is why it is so critical to give the subconscious mind something beneficial to work on as you drop off into slumber.

The power of my affirmation lies in the intelligent application of definite and specific positives.

My subconscious mind will accept my blueprint.  And I know that I can remake myself by giving a new blueprint to my subconscious mind.

My subconscious mind has a life of its own that is always moving toward harmony, health, and peace.  This is the divine norm within it, seeking expression through me at all times.

Great and noble thoughts that I habitually dwell become great acts.

Act as though I am, and I will be.

There is a principle of intelligence, but none of ignorance.  There is a principle of harmony, but not discord.  There is a principle of health, but none of disease and there is a principle of abundance, but none of poverty.

Over 90% of my mental life is subconscious.  If I fail to make use of this marvellous power, I condemn myself to live within very narrow limits.

Scientists inform us that I build a new body every 7 (ten) years, so from a physical standpoint I am really only 7 (ten) years old.  If I build defects back into my body by thoughts of fear, anger, jealousy, and ill will, I have no one to blame but myself.  I am the sum total of my own thoughts.  Affirm the good and the bad will vanish.

My own research: Latest scientific research shows that his statement of eleven months is not true: Red blood cells live for about four months, while white blood cells live on average more than a year.  Skin cells live about two or three weeks.  Colon cells have it rough: They die off after about four days.  Sperm cells have a life span of only about three days, while brain cells typically last an entire lifetime (neurons in the cerebral cortex, for example, are not replaced when they die).

My subconscious mind is the builder of my body and is on the job twenty-four hours a day.  I interfere with its life-giving pattern by negative thinking.

Charge my subconscious with the task of evolving an answer to any problem prior to sleep and it will answer me.  The infinite intelligence knows the answer.

I must remember that whenever my subconscious mind accepts an idea, it immediately begins to execute it.  It uses all its mighty resources to that end.  It mobilizes all the mental and spiritual laws of your deeper mind.  This law is true for good ideas and bad ideas.  Consequently, use my mind constructively and it brings guidance, freedom, and peace of mind.

The feeling of health produces health, the feeling of wealth produces wealth.  How do I feel?

My subconscious gives me compound interest: It magnifies and multiplies whatever I deposit in it.  That’s why I deposit only thoughts of health, prosperity, wealth, and success.

Wealth is mine and it always circulates in my life, I will always and inevitably have it, regardless of the form it takes.  Money is just a symbol of exchange!

I do not make a god of money.  It is only a symbol.  I always remember that the real riches are in my mind.  I am here to lead a balanced life and this includes acquiring all the money I need.

Why some people do not get a raise in pay (see page 118).

The Three Steps To Success:

1) Find out the thing I love to do, then do it.

2) Specialize in some particular branch of work and strive to excel in it.

3) I must be sure that the thing I want to do does not contribute only to my own success.  It must benefit humanity too.

There is no success without peace of mind.  Success is contingent upon a higher ideal than the mere accumulation of riches.  The person of success is the person who possesses great psychological and spiritual understanding.

I turn over my request for a solution to my subconscious prior to sleep.  I trust it, believe in it, and the answer will come.  It knows all and sees all, but I must not doubt or question its powers.  Guidance is given to me while I am asleep, sometimes in a dream.

Sleep is essential for peace of mind and health of body.  Lack of sleep can cause irritation, depression, and mental disorders.  I need eight hours’ sleep.

Happiness is a state of mind.  I have the freedom to choose happiness.  I make it a habit to be happy.  I am a creature of habit.

There is no block to my happiness.  External things are not causative.  They are effects, not causes.  I take my cue from the only creative principle within me.  My thought is cause and a new cause produces a new effect.

My subconscious mind is a recording machine that reproduces my habitual thinking.  Think good of the other and I am actually thinking good about myself.

Rejoice in the success, promotion, and good fortune of others.  In doing so, you attract good fortune to yourself.

There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so.  There is no evil in the desire for food, sex, wealth, or true expression.  It depends on how I use these urges, desires, or aspirations.

My subconscious mind never grows old.  I will always remain young in spirit.

Age is not the swift passage of years, but the dawn of wisdom.

My character, the quality of my mind, my faith, and my convictions are not subject to decay.

My age should be a distinct asset to any organization, because of my practice and application throughout the years of the principle of the Golden Rule and the law of love, goodwill, and attraction.  My gray hair stands for greater wisdom, skill, and understanding.  My emotional and spiritual maturity is a tremendous blessing to any organization.
